Hope Mangiafico (00:00)
Man. My last statement actually really took me out in that episode. I was I was not ready for that. You could even tell in the outro that like my whole body was settled. That was I don't know if you could I could feel it.
Nikki Humphrey (00:13)
It's just like we have this overflow, but I'm not really sure it's gonna be anything to do with the episode.
Hope Mangiafico (00:21)
Right. So we just wrapped up an episode about just summer summer things summer resources that Nikki and I have been using for our mind, body and spirit. And yeah, I think you're right. In this overflow, it's just conversation.
And something popped into my brain as we were actually wrapping up.
I do remember now. Okay, so I have one more resource because in our outro, if you haven't listened to the episode, you should. It's one of those great episodes that you could listen to while you're just doing anything. truly. I think it was a lot of fun. But one thing we mentioned the outro is like try reading a chapter of a book instead of scrolling. Now here is a resource that I have come to love.
And it's been a game changer. It's a free app. And I actually ended up doing like a charity payment because I was like, dude, I can tell this is gonna be great. It's called Screen Zen, this app allows you to like categorize certain groups of apps. So like I have group one is like just my social medias, and you can tell it how long to delay opening it up.
And you can have a question pop up, whatever you want. And I sat with the Lord on this, and I was like, okay, I go to Facebook and Instagram when I'm avoiding something. So I make it take a minute to open up, which is a dang long time. And I have the question pop up of what are you avoiding? Most of the time I just close the app back
Nikki Humphrey (01:50)
Mm-hmm.
Hope Mangiafico (01:53)
up. Because I've trained myself just to open it when I'm avoiding something. It has reset everything and then.
I have Safari as a separate one 'cause your girl looks up everything and I wanna stop. I want the Godhead frequency all the time and sometimes I get the Safari frequency.
And that was a reference from the episode, The Godhead Frequency that Nikki made, which I think was amazing. And so I guess it's called Screen Zen because it's like, hey, take a break from your screen, right? And it has been so impactful. And I have found new habits forming, the ability to like, okay, I'm picking this up right now. Let me pick up something else. It's been awesome.
Nikki Humphrey (02:36)
Sounds good.
Hope Mangiafico (02:38)
I l and it's free.
And then if you're in a hurry, so sometimes I gotta post on social media right for us, I can unenable it or dis disable. Can't unheal. I can disable it, get on there quickly, and then I just reactivate it again.
So that's been phenomenal.
Nikki Humphrey (02:56)
So what keeps coming to me?
besides resources is this summer it's so important to connect with people.
Because like Hope said like during the episode, like we were just like coming on here like hot, like Hope just got home and all the things and it was just like she's just you know, starting a new job. It's just I I've been there last year and it's just so hard and learning all the things and it's just like sometimes just connecting with your person, you know, either virtually like Hope and I are doing or for coffee or for a walk or whatever this summer.
It can change everything
Hope Mangiafico (03:36)
Hey man.
Nikki Humphrey (03:37)
in a matter of seconds, not even minute.
Hope Mangiafico (03:39)
I mean I said something
I said something within minutes, but
Nikki Humphrey (03:43)
Yeah.
Hope Mangiafico (03:43)
I felt the shift within seconds. You're so right.
Nikki Humphrey (03:46)
Right. You just see your friend and you're
just like and it just like lowers.
Hope Mangiafico (03:52)
Yes, you're right.
Nikki Humphrey (03:52)
tension, distress,
like everything. It kind of resets your mind. It's like spinning with a thousand new things. And it was just like I said I read I told hope. I'm just like that was just like I first started my new job last year when we did the episode with Mary and it was just like fireworks all of a sudden started going off and her screened and it was just like it was like everything I needed when I was just like
Hope Mangiafico (04:20)
Yeah.
Nikki Humphrey (04:21)
about to like melt down in tears before recording.
Hope Mangiafico (04:27)
That's so good. It's so true. I love that.
Nikki Humphrey (04:28)
Connect with your people. Like it makes such a difference.
Hope Mangiafico (04:34)
Hmm. I love that so much. It's such a good piece.
And I've told Nikki so many times before we hit record for our main episodes. And we take, I don't know, maybe sometimes we'll take 15 minutes, but usually it's less. And I think more often than not, I'm like, man, I needed that. And I've said it to you. And here's the thing what Nikki's sharing though, that's so important is like there will be resistance to do it. I think g talk about answered prayers. I think God
That he has made time in our lives to continue recording for this because I could have absolutely found reasons for us not to meet up.
Nikki Humphrey (05:14)
Yeah. And I would have been like, I completely understand hope, it's okay.
Hope Mangiafico (05:17)
Yeah, you're trying to be a good friend because that's makes sense. And by like something that was so cool when I got this job offer, is I think it was when the first 24 hours I told you we were able to nail down a time immediately. Now, you know, is it forever? I don't know like if this time is gonna work. Clearly, the sun right now is just like one of those things that's gonna be interesting. But
Nikki Humphrey (05:43)
I know.
Hope Mangiafico (05:44)
I was like, God, you're so cool. I was so worried about the podcast. And just like, bam, we were able to say, Hey, this this time works for both of us. Thank you, Lord.
Thank you, God.
And it's also like Nikki in the episode about being intentional. for women especially. Again, the responsibility is of being a mom and house housemaker what's the word I'm looking for homemaker? Homemaker.
Nikki Humphrey (06:10)
Right.
Hope Mangiafico (06:11)
Like feeling the responsibility for others.
Like you have to prioritize yourself. Eating the meals, aka nourishing your body, connecting with the friends. And you think about connecting with your people, Nikki, that really, almost more than a lot of other examples, hits on all three levels of the mind, body, and spirit.
It's amazing. That was a good piece of advice.
So thank you for letting me have a place to connect.
Nikki Humphrey (06:43)
Thank
you for letting me have a place to connect.
Hope Mangiafico (06:46)
Yeah.
