Nikki Humphrey (00:00)
One year, Hope. How you feeling?
Hope Mangiafico (00:02)
You know, it's exciting. It kind of came up quickly. But I have to say, before we recorded, I told Nikki and she had already been thinking, I'm like, Nikki, this is our one year episode. It's our episode number 52. 52 weeks in a year. This was an idea of ⁓ doing an episode, taking these questions before we had that realization. And I just think that's so cool.
because I thought it was the perfect topic for a one year anniversary of a podcast.
Nikki Humphrey (00:37)
Yeah, I thinking like, I mean, this is gonna pull right from our episode. Like, won't he do it? Like, he'll bring it all together. He's like, you're missing the big anniversary celebration, but I'm gonna bring it into your awareness right before you record. Which is, like you said, it's so cool. He's always there. He's always working for us. If we allow him to, we don't get in our ways. If we're not rigid.
Hope Mangiafico (00:43)
Hahaha.
Yeah.
Nikki Humphrey (01:03)
about things and allow the flexibility for the Holy Spirit to move into our episodes and to allow the slight shift in pivot. Like he comes through every time. Like.
Hope Mangiafico (01:14)
Yeah.
Nikki Humphrey (01:16)
It's awesome.
Hope Mangiafico (01:18)
He really, really does. I even have noticed that more this episode is after a series of us doing some deep biblical scriptural diving. And so I wanted it just naturally to be a little lighthearted. And even seeing him when I reflect back on that series specifically, but also in other episodes, there were weeks where I had heavier, busier weeks. And so I couldn't deep dive in all the stories as much as I wanted.
but they happen to be the stories that you had way more elaborate notes on and you happen to be the one reading those stories instead of me that actually happened on my birthday. And that was so cool because we recorded on my birthday. I had notes on about every other one because certain things jumped out. You literally took the ones I didn't have extra notes on. I'm like, thank you, Lord.
Nikki Humphrey (02:13)
Mm-hmm.
Hope Mangiafico (02:14)
you're so cool. Like he would have showed up either way, but it's like extra show up, extra nudge. And, and that actually makes me think about in this episode, we went through, I don't know, 11 questions, maybe 12. I don't remember, but there was an option to have like a lightning round. And there was a question that I really liked in that lightning round. And it was if we had time. And I want to ask it to you.
This is just making me think about that. What is a recent moment where you clearly saw God's kindness in a small detail? Our story of that just kind of segues perfectly into that question.
Nikki Humphrey (02:57)
Let's see, moment recently where I found God's kindness in a small detail.
So.
That's hard.
It's hard because like every day, like I'm like, God, thank you. Like, God, I'm so grateful. Like, I'm always saying my gratitude towards him.
Hope Mangiafico (03:12)
Right.
Nikki Humphrey (03:18)
And like everything that's coming to mind, seems so superficial, but maybe like that's the point.
Hope Mangiafico (03:24)
think maybe.
Nikki Humphrey (03:26)
of it was... All right, now I gotta look at the question again. All right. God's kindness in a small detail. So I have to eat a certain way because of what's going on in my body. And it's, I don't like it. Hope knows I have a lot of resistance in this. I've got stuck in just eating the same safe foods over and over again, because I was afraid.
And then I came across this Instagram account where this lady was doing like fun, actually yummy recipes. And I was like, thank you, God. Thank you, God, for just like bringing something to me that is yummy. It's delicious. Like my family will eat it. I'm not cooking a dinner for Luke and Josephine and me, the same old safe foods over and over and it like made.
Hope Mangiafico (04:09)
Oh, that's story. Yes.
Nikki Humphrey (04:24)
cooking fun again and I'm excited and I'm kind of just like, it's good for me, it's good for my body, but my body's not gonna reject it. And it was just like, I was so, I mean, I was running around like I had just won a Super Bowl or something.
Hope Mangiafico (04:40)
That's a perfect example because I think we would label the superficial stuff small because it's like, that's not important. That doesn't matter to him. He's too busy filling the blank, right? What we all might come up with. I think that's a phenomenal example. That's awesome. I love to like,
you using social media as an example, there have been times where things just cross my path at the perfect time. And I know everyone probably has some kind of story like that on social media and like, won't he do it?
You can call it coincidence if you want. I'm not. ⁓ I am not. So I think that's perfect. Mine's somewhat similar on just regard of like, it's one of, well, for me, it's like one, okay, maybe it's not. It's like one of those like deep down treasured things that I never implemented, but the Lord caused it to like show up in my life. So ⁓ I don't like.
big gatherings necessarily. I've never been a big fan of a lot of people getting together for my birthday, for example. And a couple of years ago, I told Sean, I was like, I would like to just make like a sign up sheet where you could pick a time slot and me and you, like an individual one-on-one, go get coffee or something, go have a meal. Well, that organically happened this birthday. And I have a small group, like locally.
the Lord really in the last year have brought very intentional local friendships in my life and I'm so grateful but it literally without me saying anything it was like Monday this Tuesday that Wednesday that Thursday that I was like my gosh every day I'm having a meal or coffee with someone didn't plan it and then every gift including one you gave me Nikki this was the year my gifts were very much like intentional like talking about
If you go back and listen to our episode, feeling seen all my gifts were like, hey, I see that you are working on, you know, selling plants, doing this, getting you a bag for your markets. This hat was one of my birthday gifts too, and it's just so cute. It's so cute. Like I just, it was one of those things I only told to my husband and the Lord showed up.
Nikki Humphrey (07:01)
Yeah, so good.
Hope Mangiafico (07:04)
The only person I see in person was Nikki. But I got a really great card that I didn't think I was gonna get. I'm so grateful it finally came because just the envelope alone was so sweet. And then I got a great gift, a very thoughtful gift from her too. anyways, it was one of those things that any other person might be like, oh, it's a pretty slow birthday, but it was the most joy filled I have ever felt on my birthday and loved I have ever felt.
Nikki Humphrey (07:06)
I'm
Hope Mangiafico (07:33)
There was like five people involved, very small.
Nikki Humphrey (07:36)
But it's exactly what you wanted and that's exactly what you got.
Hope Mangiafico (07:40)
Exactly. So wonny do it. Can't wait to bring that back,
Nikki Humphrey (07:43)
That's right.
Ha!
Hope Mangiafico (07:47)
I'm looking forward to the next year. I don't feel for anyone listening and if you've been a consistent listener, I personally don't feel the momentum slowing down. I mean, we're not exactly like 1200 episodes ahead. We move with the spirit, but like I still feel him breathing on this. And so I'm really looking forward to it.
Nikki Humphrey (07:50)
Hmm?
Yeah, me too. I'm excited.
