Nikki Humphrey (00:00)
Hi, I'm Nikki.
Hope Mangiafico (00:01)
Hi, I'm Hobo. Welcome to Equipped Fellowship where friends become family through Christ. We're two Jesus-loving friends on a mission to share personal stories, resources, and real talk about our triumphs, breakthroughs, struggles, and setbacks. Why? Because we believe you are called to live victoriously, and we're here to equip you with Holy Spirit-led tools and strategies to strengthen your faith, transform your mindset, and walk boldly in God's promises.
Because here's the truth, you have been given great and precious promises by God. So grab your coffee, lean in and let's grow together. It's time to step into everything God has for you.
Nikki Humphrey (00:42)
That's right. And we are grabbing more than our coffees this morning. We grab these little mics because today's episode is going to be a little bit different and honestly a lot more fun. Instead of teaching or training, we're letting you step into a real conversation between friends. No scripts, no overthinking, just laughter, honesty, and a whole lot of joy. We're doing a rapid fire Q &A, asking each other random questions.
some light, some thoughtful, all meant to remind us that faith doesn't have to be heavy to be holy. Sometimes the most meaningful moments happen when we slow down, laugh a little, and show up as we are. So whether you're driving, folding laundry, or taking a quiet moment for yourself, we hope this episode feels like a breath of fresh air, a reminder that joy, connection, and authenticity are a part
of a wholehearted life with God.
Hope Mangiafico (01:43)
I am so excited for this. I really am and the intro was fire. ⁓ So speaking of fire, let's start with first round, right? And we'll just go back and forth with questions. So I'm gonna start asking you number one, which is what is your coffee order right now, Nikki?
Nikki Humphrey (02:03)
Great question. My coffee order right now is a pistachio latte with whole milk. And I don't like to go to the big change for this. I like to go to the places where they make their syrups, crash and ⁓ girl, that is it. That's my coffee order.
Hope Mangiafico (02:13)
Mmm.
Yes.
Perfection. Love it.
Nikki Humphrey (02:26)
Okay, for you, your current favorite snack.
Hope Mangiafico (02:32)
Girl is whatever I grab in the pantry at the moment. Actually, it's probably carrots and hummus. We always have carrots. We just recently kind of started eating more hummus and I would never eat it because it was always the Costco size bag. And I know it sounds kind of goofy, but it's hard to grab a five pound bag every time you want a snack.
So I've started putting them in like Ziploc baggies so you can just grab a bag and have your hummus. And it's been so fun and enjoyable and crunchy and yummy.
Nikki Humphrey (03:02)
Love that.
Hope Mangiafico (03:04)
Number two, your favorite way to unwind after a long day.
Nikki Humphrey (03:12)
love this question. Okay. Unwind after a long day, put the comfy jammies on, wash the face, do my whole nighttime routine, take my supplement, get in bed and either scroll or read something light or watch something with Josephine just in my bed, just doing something that I enjoy so much.
Hope Mangiafico (03:14)
Hmm
Lovely. Makes me think of cozy, which is wonderful.
Nikki Humphrey (03:44)
All right, here we go. One thing that always makes you laugh.
Hope Mangiafico (03:50)
My dog is laying right here. She's passed out after having a barking fiasco. ⁓ She has a bit of an underbite and her lip gets caught. And it is the cutest thing I think I've ever seen. It ages her by about a hundred years. She looks like a cranky old lady and it's my favorite has been since she was a puppy. And still to this day, if I see it instantly, my life turns around and I can't help but to laugh. It's great.
I'm
One thing you have al- excuse me. One thing you always have in your bag.
Nikki Humphrey (04:31)
Mints.
Hope Mangiafico (04:33)
⁓ love me some ins.
Just thinking about that yesterday. How funny is that? How much I've liked immense over the past year.
Nikki Humphrey (04:44)
And not just any mints, it's got to be simply mints. Love those. Like I panic when I'm running low. Like it's a code red, nobody else can take my mints. I'm hoarding them.
Hope Mangiafico (04:50)
I-
I actually remember you talking about how those are like your mints now that I'm recalling that. That's great. I love that.
Nikki Humphrey (05:03)
All right, here you go, Hope. Favorite way to spend a free afternoon.
Hope Mangiafico (05:09)
Ugh.
Girl, so today's a beautiful day. So if it's a really pretty day and it's free, I will just go outside, whatever that looks like, whether it's just walking around the yard or gardening or going on a walk, something outside. When it's not so great, but it's, ⁓ it's still a free afternoon. It's kind of like your nighttime routine because sometimes night times are more rushed than you would like. So when you have a moment to just
get comfortable, relax, grab a book, slow down. ⁓ It's so refreshing. And probably go to a coffee shop to have a nice little cup of joe with me while I do whatever that activity is.
Nikki Humphrey (05:54)
Yes.
Hope Mangiafico (05:59)
Pretty sure I know the answer for this next one for you. Nikki, are you a morning person or a night owl?
Nikki Humphrey (06:06)
Morning. Love
me getting up early, spending time with Jesus, go working out. Soon as seven o'clock hits, don't call me, don't text me. You're not getting a response. I'm shutting it down.
Hope Mangiafico (06:20)
I love that. The best.
Nikki Humphrey (06:24)
A simple joy you never get tired of.
Hope Mangiafico (06:28)
Hmm.
My simple joy I never get.
So probably one is when like your favorite song comes on and it just feels like just the right time. You're like, ha ha, and it just feels like a hug, right? And you just instantly feel a shift in your entire being, right? And it just, it's so refreshing.
Nikki Humphrey (06:56)
This is not a question, but just a comment. Are you ever at Church Hope and they sing a song and you're like, that's my jam. And you freak out like you're at a concert.
Hope Mangiafico (07:05)
Yeah.
Yes, yes, there's one specific song that I've been carrying for the past couple years and we don't sing often, right? And so when it comes on, you're like, yes, and immediately in the throne room, like ready to rock and roll and worship. Absolutely. That's great.
Alright, what is your go-to comfort show or movie?
Nikki Humphrey (07:33)
Okay, so right now it's the...
even know the name of it. But it's the British Bake Off on Netflix. It's the British Baking Show. I don't know if that's the correct name for it. But I am absolutely obsessed with it. I love like they're just normal people. They're not professional bakers. And they have like radical honesty and accountability if things go sideways. And it's just fun loving and and like love it.
Hope Mangiafico (08:06)
That's awesome.
Nikki Humphrey (08:09)
All right, same as mine, go to drink order.
Hope Mangiafico (08:14)
So I have just started getting a plain coffee. Mind you, I have a small like mom and pop coffee shop right up the street. And I'm gonna do this after we finish recording actually. Go get a plain drip coffee, come back and whisk together an egg with some sugar or like a monk fruit or something until it gets nice and creamy.
put it in there, mix it up and it is amazing. I have only done it twice and it is my new favorite way to drink coffee.
Nikki Humphrey (08:52)
Now is the whole egg or just the yolk?
Hope Mangiafico (08:54)
I keep forgetting that detail. You are not the first person to ask me that question. It is just the yolk.
Nikki Humphrey (09:00)
That's what I thought, but I'm like, well, maybe you put a spin on it.
Hope Mangiafico (09:04)
Yeah, no, not quite. I read a comment where it's like, it's just one step away from Tiramisu. And it's like, that's pretty cool for something so simple. So yeah, it's been delicious.
Nikki Humphrey (09:16)
I have to try it.
Hope Mangiafico (09:18)
Yeah.
That's round one, isn't it? Our fun and random section, that's all wrapped up.
Perfect. So now we have round two. Rapid fire. Man, so that means we have to answer more quickly. Okay. Sweet or salty?
Nikki Humphrey (09:29)
Hmm? Ooh, ooh, ooh! Can't wait.
Yes.
Salty. I have the same question for you, or salty.
Hope Mangiafico (09:42)
Ooh,
sweet.
Mountains are beach.
Nikki Humphrey (09:50)
Beach.
Hope Mangiafico (09:51)
Okay.
Nikki Humphrey (09:53)
Early mornings or slow evenings.
Hope Mangiafico (09:56)
Early mornings. ⁓ Text or voice memo?
Bye!
Nikki Humphrey (10:06)
Voice memo. Yours is slightly different. Phone calls or text.
Hope Mangiafico (10:11)
text.
Guess my age. ⁓ There's a whole generation that don't like film ghosts.
planner or fly by the seat of your pants.
Nikki Humphrey (10:25)
planner.
Yours is spontaneous or planned.
Hope Mangiafico (10:39)
My insides always want planned but spontaneity is way more fun.
Nikki Humphrey (10:42)
Hehehehehe
Hope Mangiafico (10:48)
Introvert recharge or extrovert recharge?
Nikki Humphrey (10:54)
Introvert recharge music or silence
Hope Mangiafico (11:02)
you
silence.
Wow, those were, kind of made my heart race a little bit.
Nikki Humphrey (11:14)
I wanted to explain myself, but I'm like, can't because of rapid fire.
Hope Mangiafico (11:17)
Yeah, yeah, I cheated
a little bit on the one. That was good. man, so round three, heart and faith. So these are going to be the more like thought provoking, right? Okay. All right, Nikki. So one word that describes your relationship with God right now.
Nikki Humphrey (11:32)
Mm-hmm.
Submitted.
Hope Mangiafico (11:47)
Ooh, that's rich.
Nikki Humphrey (11:50)
and hard.
Did you see my face? It wasn't a joyous.
Hope Mangiafico (11:55)
Well, submission's not easy. That's another word for surrender. So if you're really living out a full life of surrender, it is very challenging. That's awesome,
Nikki Humphrey (12:08)
All right, yours is slightly different. One word that describes your faith season right now.
Hope Mangiafico (12:21)
blind trust.
Nikki Humphrey (12:25)
That's good.
Hope Mangiafico (12:27)
Yeah, that's how I feel. But it is good. It is good. I should also add that I've mentioned this on at least one episode before, but the Lord has really been talking to me about that 1 % better each day, which I think is that blind trust since that's one of those things you can't see.
Nikki Humphrey (12:49)
Yes.
Hope Mangiafico (12:50)
And so I think that's kind of the full picture of that. So yeah, not easy, but you know, simple though.
Nikki Humphrey (12:59)
That's right. You gonna make us work.
Hope Mangiafico (13:01)
Alright, for you Nikki, a habit that helps you feel grounded.
Nikki Humphrey (13:11)
Jesus time in the morning, whether it's in the word or reading a book or journaling. If I don't start my day with that, things get wonky real quick. And that's a practice that keeps, I keep coming back to that keeps me grounded.
Hope Mangiafico (13:13)
Hmm.
Makes total sense.
Nikki Humphrey (13:32)
All right, and yours is a spiritual practice you keep coming back to.
Hope Mangiafico (13:37)
journaling when things feel so chaotic in the mind or around you, right? And I just get out even a random piece of paper or my notes app and I just start writing to the father.
it does something so big in me and I will probably do that forever but it may just continue to look different.
Nikki Humphrey (13:59)
Yes. That's so good. I love that.
Hope Mangiafico (14:04)
man, this feels like a hard one. What's a worship song you never skip?
Nikki Humphrey (14:17)
All right, what is it? ⁓
Hope Mangiafico (14:21)
You can just sing it, know, but best out those vocals.
Nikki Humphrey (14:25)
It's, ⁓ it's, trust in God. My savior. Never. I mean, come on. And I got like the seven minute version blasted. We are trusting God, my savior, the one. Yes. All the time. Fires me up.
Hope Mangiafico (14:32)
think that's what it's called.
Never say
I'm sorry.
And then it picks up with the, saw the Lord and you're like head banging. That's true. That's a really good one.
Nikki Humphrey (14:58)
Yes. Yes. We just lost everybody
from my harmonious vocals.
Hope Mangiafico (15:07)
Yeah, yeah was a good one
Nikki Humphrey (15:09)
All right.
Yours is a Bible verse that feels personal to you.
Hope Mangiafico (15:18)
So I have it in my office and it is, however your Bible reads it, Song of Song, Song of Solomon, know, it's written in all kinds of different ways, but it's 8-5. And it is in the Passion Translation, I really like it because it's like, look at her now coming out of the desert clinging to her beloved. And, ooh.
It gets me every time when I think about like how many times he comes through for me and the fruit of that is I'm clinging to him more and more and I come out of that dust, out of that desert only because he is the one that lifts me out. And I like picture this scene of being covered in like, you know, like a desert covered in sand, covered in everything, but I've got them and I'm so grateful for that. And it just, every time it just hits me.
Like it's brand new. And yeah, written just for me.
Nikki Humphrey (16:18)
So good. That gave me goosebumps.
Hope Mangiafico (16:20)
It's so rich.
So something God has gently been teaching you lately.
Nikki Humphrey (16:33)
that he's got me. He's got my best interest in heart. Don't worry. Put all that nonsense aside. He's always come through. He always will come through. He's never gonna leave me. I am precious to him. He loves me. Period. End of story.
Hope Mangiafico (16:54)
That is such a hard lesson to learn. It's so hard, Nikki.
But I like that he's gently been teaching you, so I'm sure that you could expound on that and talk about how challenging it is, but his gentleness in teaching you that because he loves you so much and you're so precious to him is just so tender.
Nikki Humphrey (17:18)
Yeah,
it's been good, but hard.
Hope Mangiafico (17:21)
Right. ⁓
Nikki Humphrey (17:25)
For you, something God has surprised you with recently.
Hope Mangiafico (17:36)
I would say new friendships locally that were extremely unexpected and not even friendships but shift in dynamics and friendships where you're like, wow, Lord, like I see you wanting to bring people around that are like-minded and rooted in you and also know how to have fun, like have this balance. And I've always been the person that
has virtual friendships, period. And to the point where people were like, seriously? Yeah, that's literally all I've ever known. And so it's wild to like actually have people in front of me that, know, that I'm like, wow, like you get me and I get you. And it's actually kind of scary, but it's a scary good surprise. It's like I've been praying for it, but I guess I never expected it to get answered kind of thing.
But it's been good.
Nikki Humphrey (18:37)
That's awesome.
Hope Mangiafico (18:40)
one small thing that helps you reset when you feel overwhelmed and you can't say pause. ⁓
Nikki Humphrey (18:52)
For me lately, this has been a good one. ⁓ Good question, timely question, because it's just saying the name Jesus out loud.
Hope Mangiafico (18:59)
Mm.
Mm.
Nikki Humphrey (19:05)
I came back from a run the other day and I was like, I was just saying the name of Jesus over and over and over again. And then Josephine was mortified. She's like, I people from my school see you run around the neighborhood.
Hope Mangiafico (19:11)
Mm.
Nikki Humphrey (19:19)
out in the name of Jesus. But it does, it just helps me reset, refocus. Like just, it's a great thought interrupter for me lately. And yeah, it's been working real well.
Hope Mangiafico (19:35)
That's awesome. Simple and powerful.
Nikki Humphrey (19:37)
All right. One way you experience God's peace most clearly.
Hope Mangiafico (19:48)
It is just doing like a reset where I just lay down and instantly that's like a form of grounding, I guess. And peace washes over me and anything that's ping pong around in my head, I just instantly like go to him with the question. And I feel like I instantly get his response, which is very basic. Like his responses are very much like kind of what he is.
gently teaching you lately. Like it's like, got you, I love you, I'm here for you. You don't, you know, address all the other problems, but it's as soon as I just like, yeah, lay down wherever it may be and instantly.
The connection is strong.
Nikki Humphrey (20:35)
That's so good. I'm just picturing like if Hope and I live by each other, I'm running around the neighborhood yelling Jesus and she's falling out in the middle of the sidewalk.
Hope Mangiafico (20:45)
I was gonna say, you see me in the front yard, just grounding myself. That's so funny. They look like complete opposite techniques here. That's so funny. One day, I hope one day we're in closer proximity. Oh, such good stuff. So now, got a little add on that's gonna be, I guess, kind of like a,
Nikki Humphrey (21:01)
Yes.
Hope Mangiafico (21:13)
rapid fire lightning
Nikki Humphrey (21:15)
Mm-hmm. Yes.
Hope Mangiafico (21:17)
Okay.
You ready? It's like I'm going to try and say it really fast too. I trip over my words all the time. Sunrise or sunset?
Nikki Humphrey (21:29)
sunrise.
Morning prayer or evening prayer?
Hope Mangiafico (21:34)
Morning Prayer.
Quiet prayer or spoken prayer?
Nikki Humphrey (21:40)
Quiet prayer.
Hope Mangiafico (21:41)
Hmm.
Nikki Humphrey (21:43)
Worship alone or worship with others.
Hope Mangiafico (21:48)
alone.
One word you want more of this year.
I wasn't ready for that one either!
Nikki Humphrey (22:01)
rapid fire. All right, I'm just gonna say the first thing that popped in it was joy.
Hope Mangiafico (22:01)
Woo!
Amen.
Nikki Humphrey (22:09)
One word you're carrying into this year.
Hope Mangiafico (22:13)
Daughter. ⁓ man. Okay. So now we've got this will be interesting. I finished the sentence round. This is wild. So I'm going to do my best to not add additional sentences when I give my answers.
Faith feels easiest when I.
Nikki Humphrey (22:43)
Trust God.
Hope Mangiafico (22:46)
Super simple, that works.
Nikki Humphrey (22:48)
I feel closest to God when I.
Hope Mangiafico (22:52)
Journal.
Lately, God has been reminding me that...
Nikki Humphrey (23:02)
He loves me.
One thing I'm learning to let go of is...
Hope Mangiafico (23:12)
understanding the process.
Nikki Humphrey (23:16)
Yes.
Hope Mangiafico (23:17)
If I could tell my younger self one thing, it would be...
Just Tinder.
Hmm. Mmm.
Nikki Humphrey (23:34)
You're going to be OK.
You really are. And you're worth living.
Hope Mangiafico (23:41)
Amen. ⁓
Nikki Humphrey (23:47)
All right, this one might be hard. The best advice I ever received is...
Hope Mangiafico (23:57)
I will not get this word for word. It's more like a concept that I've ran with once I understood it is pretty much the answer to everything is understanding the Father's love.
Nikki Humphrey (24:13)
Bingo. I love that.
Hope Mangiafico (24:15)
Yeah, it's transformative and hard. ⁓
Right now, I'm most grateful for...
Nikki Humphrey (24:31)
understanding that I don't have to have everything figured out right now.
this season has taught me.
Hope Mangiafico (24:46)
It's okay to slow down. The world doesn't fall apart.
Nikki Humphrey (24:52)
Preach. ⁓
Hope Mangiafico (24:58)
Joy looks like blank in this season.
Nikki Humphrey (25:06)
inner peace.
Hope Mangiafico (25:10)
Amen.
Nikki Humphrey (25:15)
This is so funny. I just read your question. Peace looks like blank for me right now.
Hope Mangiafico (25:29)
Internal calmness, matter what's going on on the outside. Settling, internal settling.
Nikki Humphrey (25:43)
is good.
Hope Mangiafico (25:44)
Yeah.
I really wanted to say joy, but it's like no hope.
Okay, are we ready for a lightning closer?
so gentle. I was hearing like really loud and yours is so cute. That was funny. Okay. Coffee date or long walk?
Nikki Humphrey (26:21)
long walk with coffee.
Hope Mangiafico (26:24)
I was like, we did both when we were together. ⁓ I like your answer.
Nikki Humphrey (26:31)
Deep Talks or Silly Laughs?
Hope Mangiafico (26:35)
⁓ gosh.
a deep talk.
but do not live life without silly laughs. ⁓
Nikki Humphrey (26:45)
Yes.
Hope Mangiafico (26:48)
journal or talk it out. ⁓
Nikki Humphrey (26:55)
Journal.
This is a repeat question. Early mornings or slow evenings?
Hope Mangiafico (27:01)
Ugh.
That is a repeat question. And I said early morning before.
Nikki Humphrey (27:11)
All right, I'm gonna redo this on the fly.
Hope Mangiafico (27:15)
Okay, I'm more nervous this way. Because this means it was really Holy Spirit led.
We didn't have the internet, so.
Nikki Humphrey (27:33)
All right.
All right, Lord, give me a question for hope.
bright colors or neutrals.
Hope Mangiafico (27:59)
Why is that so difficult?
Nikki Humphrey (28:03)
It's question from the Lord, so...
Hope Mangiafico (28:09)
My attire will not agree with bright colors, but I'm going to go with bright colors. That was a good one.
Nikki Humphrey (28:14)
Right.
Hope Mangiafico (28:19)
Okay, so this next one is really tough, I think. One word you hope listeners take with them today.
Nikki Humphrey (28:30)
Don't always take yourself so seriously. Pause. ⁓
Hope Mangiafico (28:32)
One word. ⁓
Nikki Humphrey (28:38)
going to rewind that answer.
Hope Mangiafico (28:42)
it
was going to be so difficult because of one word.
Nikki Humphrey (28:46)
All right, one
word you hope listeners will take with them. Smile.
Hope Mangiafico (28:53)
There you go. That's a good one.
Nikki Humphrey (28:56)
And you have the same question, one word you hope listeners will take with them today.
Hope Mangiafico (29:04)
expectancy.
Nikki Humphrey (29:07)
Yes.
Hope Mangiafico (29:08)
And that's for me too, as is the smile one. Those are good.
Nikki Humphrey (29:19)
This was so fun. I have a closing. Are we ready for that? Okay. If this episode made you smile.
Hope Mangiafico (29:22)
Perfect. Yeah.
Yeah.
Nikki Humphrey (29:30)
and be expectant. Let that be a reminder that joy is not a distraction from spiritual growth. It's often a sign of it. God meets us not just in the deep and serious moments of our life, but also in the ordinary lighthearted ones. As you move into this week, give yourself permission to stay curious, to stay connected and stay open. Let joy be a doorway, not something you rush past.
And remember, wholeness is built in community through shared stories, shared laughter, and walking this journey out together. Thank you for being here with us. We're so glad that you're part of our fellowship.
Hope Mangiafico (30:14)
Amen. Until next time, we'll see you in the overflow.
