Hope Mangiafico (00:00)
Wow, that was so good.
Nikki Humphrey (00:01)
Won't He do it?
Hope Mangiafico (00:04)
Yeah, I wrote it in all caps at the bottom of my notebook because I'm like, I'm sitting here getting this download of like the journey of obedience. And at the end, when I do number seven, that he realigns you and you realize that all along he's been building. It's like, I literally like real time, know, like, what? He do it. Oh my gosh, he's so good.
Nikki Humphrey (00:28)
It's so it only do it. mean, just so awesome how this all like played out. Like I had thought of it. This like popped up on a run yesterday, but then I thought about it again late last night, but didn't have time to, to reach out to you hope. So when I texted you around eight 30 today, and I want you want to meet and do this and here's what I got. And then like,
Hope Mangiafico (00:33)
Okay.
Yeah.
you
Nikki Humphrey (00:57)
you journaled and then later in the day, like I had some time to like hop on my computer and type out some things and it's just yeah, right in the middle of overwhelm or like questioning or a new assignments from God, like he brings us this.
Hope Mangiafico (01:17)
It's it's rich is the only word I could think of to describe the conversation ⁓ and I think it's because To your point we're in the middle of it, and it's like I needed it
Nikki Humphrey (01:32)
Yes.
Hope Mangiafico (01:33)
I needed the reminder. And you know, you were saying I was telling you when you were talking the episode, like girl, now it's your time to practice what you preach. we need those moments, you know? It's so, again, going back to arrogance and pride, like it's so easy to be self-equipped.
Nikki Humphrey (01:43)
Yeah.
Yes.
Hope Mangiafico (01:55)
And then we become dependent on just having the knowledge and God's like, okay, well now apply it It's like who?
Ugh. Truly.
Nikki Humphrey (02:06)
Yeah, he's like, you ain't been doing these podcast episodes for nothing,
Hope Mangiafico (02:12)
That's the truth. Oh my gosh, really. And they really are like our episodes and I've said it before, like they really bless me so much to listen to again and I get something new when I listen to them. And that is him being the equipment. And using even, you you talked about texting me this morning at 8 a.m. or whatever.
I had just kind of thought we just won't meet this week and I was fine with that. And then you gave that topic and I was like, that sounds great. And then it just, yeah, unfolded. And so it's just, it's so funny and a good reminder of you say yes. So we say yes in this example, he shows up and then he goes above and beyond. And we can look back if we use the podcast as an example.
and we can be like, man, he's been our equipment for every single episode. The only time that it felt like he wasn't was when I can confidently say I was really trying to force something.
Nikki Humphrey (03:18)
Yes. Yes. Right. Trying to put my agenda across instead of like, yeah.
Hope Mangiafico (03:23)
severely.
Yeah.
Nikki Humphrey (03:28)
And God is giving us right now exactly what we needed. Just like you said, Hope, what I needed. Because like what I'm going through is hard and I'm not getting any hardly any sleep and I work long hours and it's just I don't have a roadmap. And people, I love a good roadmap of like, this is where you're starting and this is what's next and this is your outcome at the end. it's, ooh.
Hope Mangiafico (03:40)
You're telling me.
Nikki Humphrey (03:58)
We've gone rogue in a big way. And I think I need this, but it's difficult in the process, but easier when I stay in alignment like we talked about in the episode.
Hope Mangiafico (04:11)
So here's something that God taught me. I feel like this is gonna align really well. I say taught me. I was being taught hours ago, okay?
Nikki Humphrey (04:24)
It's not like a year ago. It was like 67 minutes ago.
Hope Mangiafico (04:32)
to continue to walk it out, okay?
Nikki Humphrey (04:38)
It hasn't been tested, but.
Hope Mangiafico (04:41)
No, this is really cool though, like because I've
mentioned on here before, I mean it's real time, right? Like we are not experts at being followers of Christ. We just are learning how to hear him better and shorten the process of our little detours. ⁓ But so your example just made me think about sharing mine in a little bit of detail because I've shared... ⁓
Nikki Humphrey (04:49)
What? No.
Yeah.
Hope Mangiafico (05:07)
about how I've picked up day trading. And I had about a week and a half of good progress for me where it was like, well, dang, I know what I'm doing. But I really, I get out early just so I don't lose too, like not lose too much money, but you could like risk and then just lose it all. So I get out, I'm like, this is good, this is like equivalent. And if I keep doing this, it's like what I made at my old job. I'm fine with that, doing that. Well, yesterday.
Nikki Humphrey (05:22)
Yeah. Yeah.
Hope Mangiafico (05:36)
No bueno of a day. Real bad and I instantly knew that I needed to stop But with day trading I I tell people it is the greatest Test of the fruit of the spirits in you all of it self-control Patience everything and it it gets so heavy in your chest and I'm like God I feel you telling me to stop
Nikki Humphrey (05:37)
Thank you.
Mm-hmm.
Hope Mangiafico (06:03)
but I'm still watching the dang market, right? And I'm like, ugh, I knew I was right. I just like messed up and then bam, I get back in.
No, that was wrong, Hope. And I was in a hole that day. Like, you know, I'm not like we lost our entire bank account or anything. Like, I'm still ahead. But like, that was a punch to every part of my being because it erased days of work because of lack of self-control. Now, here's the thing that I, what I'm getting to, to tie into your story.
Nikki Humphrey (06:33)
Yes.
Hope Mangiafico (06:41)
All of a sudden, while I'm using, I've mentioned this before, my journal for trade and I use it like an actual journal, the term popped in my head of decision fatigue. And he's like, Hope, the reason that this keeps happening isn't so much that you suck, right? All the things I'm questioning about myself and being challenged with, it's that.
Nikki Humphrey (06:53)
Yes.
Hope Mangiafico (07:03)
You haven't set yourself up to not have decision fatigue and when those moments happen and you're going backwards, you don't have a plan. So now you're having to make all these one-offs decisions all in a moment and you mess up and decision fatigue messes you up even more and you get out of control.
And so he had me today sit down and come up with a better plan to prevent decision fatigue. Decision fatigue happens no matter what you're in, but I think doing stocks is the worst because it's firing on all cylinders in very dramatic, intense ways. Decision fatigue will set in every time we don't have a plan with the Lord. It doesn't even need to be, this is what led me to this, your little roadmap you're talking about.
Nikki Humphrey (07:27)
Yeah.
Hope Mangiafico (07:50)
It's just letting him lead.
Nikki Humphrey (07:56)
Yeah. ⁓ so good.
Hope Mangiafico (08:02)
So yeah, was yesterday it started today. He walked me through how to prevent it. And guess what I did though? You know, you know your weak points, right? I had the market up watching it while I'm journaling. Why would you do that when you're trying to grow? Why would you open yourself up to an area where God said, hey hope tomorrow is your day. You need a reset. You need to come visit with me. Why would I do that?
Nikki Humphrey (08:28)
Yeah.
Hope Mangiafico (08:32)
joke! I'm watching and I'm like, I could be like a millionaire right now because that is the kind of move I make all the time.
Nikki Humphrey (08:39)
Yeah. God's like, hope, hope, focus,
Hope Mangiafico (08:42)
So then...
And then
I go questioning myself all over again. Well, God, could be in that right now. I could.
Nikki Humphrey (08:49)
Yes!
Hope Mangiafico (08:56)
I just opened the door to too many things. And then again, decision fatigue comes in because I never finished my plan with the father. He gave me a great plan. And I've had to revisit plans because with the stock market, you think you got the way and the way changes because the market changes. And I'm learning that. But the beauty of all that is, again, going back to everything we've talked about, God's my equipment. And I've
Nikki Humphrey (09:21)
Hmm?
Hope Mangiafico (09:22)
I've said that, I've believed that, not those exact words, but you know, the concept, from the beginning.
But I'm still acting out of those moments of challenge and listening to the not the truths and all the things that are opposite of God. And then I keep letting, keeping the door open to allow confusion.
And so all that said, the decision fatigue was something that I wanted to share specifically because if we can even keep it simple and say, hey, what's the best and fastest way to overcome in these moments? It's probably like, how do you prevent that decision fatigue? And it's to drop everything and go to the fall.
Nikki Humphrey (10:17)
Amen. That's it.
Hope Mangiafico (10:20)
Because, okay, I'm gonna add one thing to that because I'm thinking about your example you gave in, I believe it was in the episode, I don't think it's in this overflow where you talked about the pen. I wanted to write a note. What were you doing? Trying to make a decision, withdrawing, decision, withdrawing, decision, withdrawing. That gets exhausting.
Nikki Humphrey (10:30)
Yes, episode, yeah.
Yeah.
Right. Yeah. Well, like, like the term like wrestle with your flesh. I was wrestling with my flesh. I'm like, I got a good thing to say. Like, I'm like, but it's not too much God like it just just a little it's like you said about opening the door like just going to open the door a little bit but God's like, I don't want that door open right now girl.
Hope Mangiafico (10:47)
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Nikki Humphrey (11:07)
FINE! ⁓
Hope Mangiafico (11:09)
Yeah, mean, yeah, pitch a fit while you say fine. He'll be fine with that. That's why he's a father.
Nikki Humphrey (11:13)
I
know.
Hope Mangiafico (11:15)
It's just like, and I guess decision fatigue's not the right term in every situation, but it still conveys the same thing. You get tired. You then set yourself up for not the best success later in the day or whatever it may be, and it's because you're trying to force something, whatever it may be, and I call it decision because you are, to a degree, you're trying to force a decision to be made and change a decision that God's already made.
Nikki Humphrey (11:40)
And you're thinking because
all those thoughts are coming in and our brain is processing all those things and trying to like put everything in its box and in its place. So it is decision fatigue.
Hope Mangiafico (11:51)
Yeah.
So that's become my new goal as of yesterday, ⁓ is reducing that. And then without decision fatigue present, what do you feel? You feel peace.
Nikki Humphrey (12:00)
Yeah. ⁓
Hope Mangiafico (12:10)
So, and that led me to looking at scriptures. I didn't dig into it, but like, again, us reading the Bible in the year and seeing more Old Testament since God spoke to them so directly, which I know we're not in the Old Testament, but we still have that ability. God would say to do something and they would just go do it.
or not, but they didn't debate. But they didn't debate. That's the better way to say it. There was no like debate in that regard. They might've ignored it, but they fully committed either way.
Nikki Humphrey (12:33)
Yeah, I was like, not always, not that I thought about it. was like, yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Hope Mangiafico (12:47)
So anyways, that's something I think that we can all agree to work on.
Nikki Humphrey (12:54)
Yeah, agreed. ⁓
Hope Mangiafico (13:00)
Do you have anything else? Okay.
Nikki Humphrey (13:01)
No, this
decision fatigue is in!
Hope Mangiafico (13:06)
That's fair.
you next time.
Nikki Humphrey (13:10)
Yeah.
